How Armenia met Ukrainians

  • PDF

Another interesting workshop entitled «GROW 2020" was organized by the NGO "Centre for European cooperation" in collaboration with the Armenian NGO " Youth Cooperation Center of Dilijan" (YCCD), within the program "Youth in Action". This time two volunteers went  to welcoming Armenia, from 13 to 21 July, with the purpose to develop coaching skills and acquire new knowledge in the field of employment and youth entrepreneurship.

Here is how Victoria, one of the participants of the project, describes her experience in the training course:

- By participating to the training in Armenia, I did not expect anything special and I did not worry about anything but the flight. In fact, this was my first time on a plane and Armenia is the first country on my dream map that I visited. The first thing that surprised me when we arrived to Armenia was how we were received by the representatives of YCCD, hospitable and simple. Thanks to this we did not suffer from cultural shock: we immediately felt home! Dilijan, the place where we had the training, is a small welcoming town, with clean air, pleasant climate and friendly inhabitants. All the participants, who joined the training to gain new experiences, turned out to be very nice people.

We played  many interesting games and "energizers", we learned how to listen and speak so that we will be  heard (in order to capture the attention of the audience), how to ask questions and make the right decisions, found out support and develop our artistic potential. All the "working" week  was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, warmth, good humor. It was nice to be there in that exactly place with that particular group of people.  I will gladly use in my daily  life the experience I gained during the event, also to develop/create similar projects.

Another participant, Irina, shares her impressions:

- Travelling is always great! A journey with the "Center for European cooperation"(CEC) is even unforgettable! This opportunity was given to us, two Ukrainian girls, by CEC and the EU program "Youth in Action". During the training course «GROW 2020" we visited the beautiful country called Armenia. Twenty four participants from different countries (Georgia, Italy, Moldova, Greece, Belarus, Denmark, Lithuania, Spain, Czech Republic) gathered at the famous resort town of Dilijan, which is on the north-east of Yerevan. A friendly atmosphere, high level of organization, good accommodation, great Armenian cuisine, tour around the country, interesting excursions ... And that's not all that awaited the participants for eight days of exciting trip! During the training we were supported by our amazing coaches and organizers. We learned how to manage ourselves, our thoughts and feelings, we were active listeners, we “produced creativity”, we learned to count on ourselves, to work in a team and stay  face to face with ourselves during the “solo”. This was an invaluable experience for each of us. In addition to teaching, developing exercises and attending scenic spots we enjoyed this friendly country. We were also lucky to see the local sights and architecture, stunning landscapes, highlands, located high above the sea level.

We visited Lake Sevan, Armenian monasteries, national museums, restaurants, and more. We came back home with unforgettable memories, new friends, full of emotion. Because it was our first trip abroad. and it was such an incredible and useful! Our "international family" said goodbye with tears in their eyes and repeated: «See you soon! Necessarily!!! ».  And we believe in this!
