M18: we can do more! Promoting civil participation of youth in the regions of Ukraine, Russia and Georgia.

Lack of awareness of youth in the community issues and low motivation for conscious and active influence on the political life of society - the reasons that led to decades of decline Ukrainian civic consciousness. To improve the civic engagement of children and youth, the formation of a democratic culture of the young generation in Ukraine in 2016 we implemented the project "We can do more! Promoting civil participation of youth in the regions of Ukraine, Russia and Georgia"

There were planned 3 regional Ukrainian-German seminar "Effective forms and methods of civil participation of children and youth" in Kiev (regions: Kiev, Cherkasy), in Odessa (regions: Odessa, Zaporizhia, Lviv) and Kharkiv (regions: Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kramatorsk). The participants were community activists, representatives of NGOs, educators, anyone who works with children and young people and seeks to initiate or distribute children's and youth initiatives to strengthen civil society.

There were invited experts on work with young people from Germany and Ukraine. During the seminar Elena Smagliy, expert from NGO "Center for European Cooperation" briefed participants with advanced participation tools, active methods of creating the project and its implementation in cooperation with local stakeholders. German expert Dominik Ringler shared participation experience of children and young people in Germany.

After the workshops there were scheduled the following activities:

  • Support for children's and youth projects
  • Conduct Youth Forum "M18: We can do more»
  • Study visits to Germany, Georgia, Russia

The project was implemented by the German charitable organization "German-Russian Exchange" supported by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
