Round Table“Ukraine – EU: cooperation in the sphere of youth policy”

Team of Center of EuropeanCooperation took an active part in Round Table “Ukraine – EU: cooperation in the sphere of youth policy”, which was organized by Department of Family and Youth of the Donetsk Regional Administration on 26 th of Mach 2014. Three of EVS volunteersfrom CEC were invited to give a speech in order to present European ideas about youth policy and their own experience in this field.

The aim of Round Table was to point the importance of wise youth policy as such, set up objectives and discuss further steps. There were officials from local administration and representatives of universities, organizations, associations participating in the event, providing preview of the Ukrainian side on matters of current and future youth policy. Presentation of European point of view was providedby guests from Europe. More specifically - young people from Italy, Estonia, Germany and Poland - working in Donetsk in the framework of European programs of voluntary service. CEC volunteers delivered speeches concerning: the organization and its objectives, description of the activities, plans for the future and the upcoming event – Days Europe (IzabellaKwiatkowska, Poland), non-formal education as the main element of the new youth policy, methods of non-formal learning (DariaWięch, Poland), intercultural meaning of youth policy, intercultural communication as a key point of building future society (Lorenzo Antonio Rottino, Italy).

According to the idea of Round Table, meeting ended in a brief but constructive discussion. People that did not appeal during allocution - had the opportunity to speak up, ask questions and present their point of view. The atmosphere was friendly and fostered everyone to drawing conclusions and making contacts.Volunteers of CEC were given gifts by organizes – souvenirsfrom Donetsk to thank them forsharingtheir ideas and experience. It was also a great opportunity for networking and startingtruecooperation in the field of youth policy.
